Mobile phone number - Being phased out
In an ongoing effort to enhance digital security and protect user identities, the European Commission has announced the phase-out of SMS-based multifactor authentication (MFA) for EU Login. This transition is to be completed by mid-2025 and is guided by the EU Login Steering Committee and the Information Technology Cybersecurity Board (ITCB) of the European Commission.

EU Login Mobile App
Download and install the EU Login mobile application for iOS or Android and use it with the PIN Code (requiring an internet connection) or the QR code scanning (can be used offline).

Trusted Platform, Security Key and Passkeys
You may authenticate in EU Login using a Security Key or your device's Trusted Platform Module. Additionally EU Login now support Passkeys. Please refer to the following articles for additional guidance:

Electronic Identity Card or eID
Depending on your National Administration, you may be able to use the eID authentication feature of EU Login.

It is strongly advised to configure multiple options in case you lose access to one of them, if the application does not allow you to use your preferred option or in case you are located in a geographical zone which prevents you from using one or several options.
